Typographic Exercises

This section showcases typography-focused projects exploring layout, hierarchy, and expressive type design.

For Assignment 01 (left), I created a custom ligature using my initials, "JR", designed on a modular grid for clarity and balance. The bold, minimal layout emphasizes geometric precision and identity. Assignment 02 (right) visualizes a quote by Picasso: “Inspiration exists, but it has to find you working.” The repeating type, layered quotes, and contrasting scale express the rhythm and persistence behind creative work.

This poster was designed for Travis Scott’s Utopia tour, promoting a one-night-only show at MetLife Stadium on October 9, 2024. Travis Scott is known for his high-energy performances, cinematic production style, and immersive, otherworldly aesthetic. The poster channels this distinct vibe through its bold typography, stark contrast, and minimalist composition.

The assignment focused on both typographic presentation and layout design using a font of my choice.
